Samsung has announced the expansion of the Digital Key feature in the Samsung Wallet app to support additional Audi models. With this feature, users can easily unlock and start compatible Audi vehicles without using a physical key, just with a Galaxy phone.
Previously, Digital Key was integrated into a number of models from manufacturers such as Genesis, BMW, and Kia, giving users the ability to control their vehicles without a traditional key. Now, with the addition of support for Audi, Samsung Wallet continues to affirm its role in connecting modern technology to everyday life.
This feature is available on select Galaxy devices, including models released in the last four years such as the Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The device must be running Android 13 or higher and have the Samsung Wallet app installed.
Samsung also said that the digital key can be shared with friends or family so that they can also access the car when needed. In addition to the ability to unlock, lock the car and start the engine, the app also supports a separate button to open the trunk in some cases. With Samsung Wallet, users can access the key quickly and conveniently right on the phone.
To ensure safety, Samsung designed the digital key according to the EAL6+ standard, one of the highest security standards today. In addition, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology enhances the safety of the connection between the phone and the car. In case the phone is lost or stolen, users can disable the key through the Samsung Find service, ensuring absolute control.
According to Samsung, the Digital Key feature for Audi will start rolling out in Europe this month, and global expansion will depend on the launch schedule of compatible Audi models. This is an important step forward, bringing more convenience and modernity to users who own Audi cars and Galaxy phones.
