Samsung has officially unveiled new soundbar models at CES 2025, including the all-new QS700F and an upgraded version of the Q990. Both products support Eclipsa Audio 3D spatial audio technology, a platform recently developed by Samsung in collaboration with Google.
The QS700F speaker model is designed to be flexible and can be placed on a shelf or mounted directly on the wall at a 90-degree angle below the TV. The automatic sound optimization feature based on the installation location helps users experience the best sound no matter where it is placed. The QS700F will come with a wireless subwoofer, but it is not yet clear whether the rear satellite speakers will be included in this product.
The Q990F soundbar, Samsung’s top-of-the-line model, has been greatly improved in design and performance. While retaining the same angular design and 11.1.4-channel configuration, the accompanying subwoofer has been reduced to less than half the size of the previous version while still maintaining powerful sound quality. According to Samsung, the Q990F will deliver clearer and more vivid sound, supporting Dolby Atmos and integrating rear surround speakers with upward-firing drivers for a more immersive sound effect.
In addition, Samsung has introduced advanced AI technologies to enhance the audio experience. The Active Voice Amplifier Pro feature amplifies voices and reduces background noise, while Q-Symphony Pro works with the TV’s processor to create a more harmonious and vivid sound. The Q-Symphony Pro feature will not only appear on the Q series but also be supported on two new B series soundbars, the HW-B750F and HW-B650F, launching in 2025.
Another highlight of the CES event was the Eclipsa Audio sound platform. The technology allows content creators to adjust spatial audio data as they wish, similar to how Dolby Atmos works. Samsung says users will be able to upload videos with Eclipsa Audio on YouTube later this year. However, information about support for other platforms has not been disclosed.
Samsung previously announced plans to develop spatial audio technology from 2023 through a partnership with Google on IAMF, a standard supported by giants like Amazon, Apple, and Netflix. This is also not the first time Samsung has moved away from popular standards like Dolby, as the company has previously prioritized HDR10+ over Dolby Vision for its TVs.
There is no official information on the price and release date of the QS700F and Q990F. However, if you refer to the old price, the Q990D used to cost $2,000 with a full set of speakers, while Sony’s Bar 9 soundbar model only has the main speaker but the price is also up to $1,400.
