Samsung is working harder to create a unified user experience across its ecosystem. The Tizen 8 update for TVs and monitors brings many of the One UI features to its large-screen products.
We also found that Tizen 8 improves the experience of using the Galaxy Watch and Samsung TV together. If you have Tizen 8 on your TV, you can start a workout on your Galaxy Watch from the TV remote.
However, the new system isn’t as advanced or seamless as Samsung would like you to think. Still, it’s a step in the right direction.
Here’s how it works. You navigate the new One UI interface using the TV remote to access the Daily+ tab. Next, you need to go to the Health tab, scroll down, and select your Galaxy Watch.
A pop-up will then ask you to select a workout on your Galaxy Watch. If you look at your wrist now, you’ll see that the TV has triggered the workout selection screen on the Galaxy Watch.
In short, you can get to the workout selection screen on the Galaxy Watch from the Health screen on the TV, but you still have to use the Galaxy Watch to complete the final step: selecting a workout.
As you can see, the Galaxy Watch and Samsung TV still don’t offer the seamless experience that users would like. However, this is a sign of what Samsung is trying to achieve. So the future looks pretty promising. Hopefully, we’ll be able to select workouts right from the Health screen on Samsung TVs in the future.
